Shopify Store Revamp for a Premium Home & Lifestyle Brand

From fragmented functionality to a seamless, scalable shopping experience

Client

An anonymous brand in the home & lifestyle segment (rugs, textiles, decor) with an international audience. The company serves both B2C customers directly and collaborates with interior designers, architects, boutique hotels, and retail partners.

Project Overview

The client approached us with a functioning Shopify store that had outgrown its infrastructure. Performance issues, fragmented integrations, outdated UI, and a lack of localization made it difficult to scale. Our goal was to turn the website into a reliable, fast, and scalable sales channel that meets modern eCommerce standards.

Key Challenges

  • Unstable performance with outdated plugins and partially manual processes.
  • No personalization or geolocation features, which limited international growth.
  • Outdated mobile design with low conversion rates.
  • Scattered marketing tools with no centralized analytics or automation.

Custom Theme Development

  • Interactive UI with hover effects, sticky add-to-cart, and dynamic blocks
  • Roomvo integration for visualizing rugs in interior spaces
  • Fully custom Shopify theme focused on performance and brand identity
  • Optimized templates for product pages, collections, and promotional pages

Geolocation & Localization

When we began working on the project, it became clear that although the brand had an international audience, the website wasn’t truly communicating with customers in their language, literally and figuratively. Visitors from other countries saw prices in a single currency, which created friction during checkout.

We implemented intelligent geolocation using the ipapi API to detect a visitor’s country instantly. Prices, currencies, and even messaging adjusted dynamically depending on the region.

For content translation, we integrated Weglot to support multiple languages. We configured it to auto-sync with site updates so any changes to content were immediately reflected across all translations—covering buttons, headers, SEO tags, and more.

Additionally, we created regional banners and promotions that only appeared in specific geographies. Australian visitors saw free domestic shipping, while European users were informed about local delivery timelines. This significantly reduced cart abandonment and increased trust.

Advanced Integrations

Each integration was selected and configured based on how it would contribute to business goals—not just as a feature checklist.

With Hotjar, we launched heatmaps and session recordings to identify how users interacted with the site. This data guided redesign decisions—especially around product cards and CTA placement.

To personalize user experience, we added Nosto, a product recommendation engine that adapts suggestions based on browsing history and customer profiles. This boosted engagement and average cart size.

We implemented Swym for wishlists and ‘back in stock’ alerts—key features for improving retention and triggering repeat visits. The back-in-stock emails performed particularly well.

For time-limited or high-demand products, Webkul’s Product Auction module allowed us to add bidding functionality—turning routine product drops into interactive events.

Performance Optimization

One of the most common issues with Shopify stores is the accumulation of heavy third-party scripts. Each app loads its own JavaScript files, many of which run on every page—even when not needed.

We audited all third-party scripts. Where possible, we replaced bulky plugins with native or lighter alternatives. For essential ones, we manually refactored scripts to defer loading, compress code, and remove unused features. Marketing widgets and pop-up platforms were the main culprits. After optimization, page load times dropped dramatically—especially on mobile.

Google PageSpeed scores improved by over 30 points, and the browsing experience became much smoother and snappier.

Cloudflare CDN & FastClick Polyfill

To improve global site delivery speed, we configured Cloudflare CDN. Now, users load content from the server closest to them—whether they’re in Europe, Asia, or North America. This significantly cut down latency and improved performance metrics worldwide.

We also integrated FastClick Polyfill—a lightweight script that removes the 300ms delay typically seen on touch-based browsers. Even small improvements like this created a more responsive, app-like experience for mobile users.

Ongoing Support & Maintenance

Our involvement didn’t end after deployment. We provide ongoing technical support that includes:

– Monitoring Shopify core updates and app compatibility
– Logging and proactively fixing errors before they affect the end user
– Quickly adapting the store architecture for new features or campaigns
– Suggesting and implementing performance or UX improvements based on data

For the client, this means peace of mind. They never have to worry about plugin conflicts, outdated themes, or sudden performance drops. We act as an extension of their team, keeping the store stable, fast, and continuously improving.

Final Thoughts

This project illustrates how a well-structured Shopify ecosystem—custom design, seamless architecture, and meaningful integrations—can transform an online store into a high-performing, scalable sales machine. We didn’t just ‘tweak a theme’ — we helped the business level up its entire eCommerce infrastructure.
